Current programs:
Nigel Kennedy plays Jimi Hendrix
Bach meets My World

Nigel Kennedy, one of the world’s leading violin virtuosos and multifaceted artist, has always been driven by his passion for musical diversity. His experiences in music have ranged from straight classical interpretations to modern music such as klezmer, jazz and rock.

With his project Nigel Kennedy plays Jimi Hendrix he worked out a program dedicated to one of the greatest masters of rock: Jimi Hendrix. From early on his career Jimi Hendrix has been one composer to whom he keeps returning. Since almost 25 years Kennedy has already been performing various works of him regularly whether with classical orchestra, small acoustic groups or with his regular band.

“What attracts me to Jimi Hendrix’s music is the amazingly open mind that Jimi had. This was reflected in many ways; he was always gracious and never insulting to anybody and this showed in his music. There were any number of influences that one could hear in his compositions; these ranged from rock, blues and Celtic through to trance and experimental styles. Maybe that is why I find it so natural exploring Jimi Hendrix’s music, having been involved in so many similar styles myself. I particularly get off on the transcendental, psychedelic side of Jimi’s music, which really hits home hard.” – Nigel Kennedy

„Kennedy gives the rock classics a completely new twist, performing them with the
bq. technical brilliance he’s known for.” – Deutsche Welle
