Broken Brass Ensemble

Current album: ‘Astonishing Tales from Beyond the Brass Dimension’ (The Bakery, May 2017)

Broken Brass Ensemble is not your typical brass band. The Dutch group injects New Orleans brass with a fusion of hip hop, funk, soul, dance and jazz and turns it into a blazing mixture of energy. They’re taking brass to a new level, creating a new version of the vibrant traditional brass. Their eclectic sound has been running up a storm over Europe. In May 2017, they released their new album ‘Astonishing Tales from Beyond the Brass Dimension’.

Their interactive and riotous performances have conquered crowds all over Europe. Broken Brass Ensemble have sold out shows in venues throughout the UK, including London, Manchester, Exeter, Norwich, and stunned visitors at festivals like Fusion (GER), North Sea Jazz (NL), Eurosonic (NL), Jazz à Vienne (FR), Secret Garden Party (UK) and Paaspop (NL). With more than 350 shows in less than three years, the energetic eight-piece have definitely become a live force to be reckoned with.

Broken Brass Ensemble has not only sparked excitement among fans but also among media outlets and music critics. After being a guest on every major Dutch TV and radio show, the band was invited to numerous shows across Europe, one being the popular BBC Radio 6 Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show (UK). Their first EP and their debut album ‚Brasshopper‘ (April 2015) both sold out on CD and vinyl. In 2016 they released a remix album with tracks by Mr Scruff (Ninjatune) and other artists.
